Fog drifts over the mountain tops at Veduna, and birds wake the surrounding forest. Below, a natural pool catches the quiet movement of water and light. That is how the centre describes a morning of its five-day silence retreat, and it sets the terms for the place: 23 hectares of ancient forest and farmland at Lopatnik 4, near Velenje, Slovenia. Veduna calls itself a centre of healing and learning, and the farm is part of that. A greenhouse, a new polytunnel and cultivated land aim to supply enough organic fruit and vegetables to feed residents and guests for most of the year. Whatever is left over goes to the local town market. In the kitchen, a resident cook works around a hand-built wood-fired bread oven and an aga. Guests get two organic vegetarian meals a day, brunch and dinner, served buffet style, with Veduna's own herbal tea blends and an onsite café. The centre sleeps groups of up to 25. The Retreat Centre has three twin and two triple rooms, with handmade oak beds, exposed timber beams and balconies, plus two dormitories of four beds each. The Old Farmhouse has the Butterfly and Allegra rooms and a sitting room for reading. Rose Cottage, set back from the main house with its own entrance and sunny terrace, is kept for the visiting practitioner. Guests also have a sauna, the natural pool, a yoga studio and a fire pit. Practitioners from around the world come to lead the retreats. The 2026 calendar included Stillness Speaks, a five-day guided silence retreat built on rounding, a cycle of movement, breath, meditation and rest, with silence held as a container rather than a rule. It also included Embrace Your Inner Seasons, a three-day women's cycle-syncing retreat with herbal wisdom, a tea ceremony and a sound bath.
