On Swasthika Garden Road in Peliyagoda, near Colombo, Niyanthree's retreat villa holds exactly one guest room, and one stay at a time. The room is 900 square feet, with an attached bathroom and bathtub, a walk-in closet and a view of the trees. Outside is a herbal and fruit garden, where the daily yoga, guided breathwork and quiet contemplation of a stay take place. A butler is on hand around the clock. The place grew from the work of Dr. Subajanane Jeyanthan, an Ayurvedic physician with more than a decade of experience. She trained at Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya and was raised in a family of traditional Ayurvedic healers, with both maternal and paternal lines in the tradition. Her practice reaches past the physical body into emotional and energetic work, including what the centre calls generational healing. The name Niyanthree is given as meaning "the one who guides the world." The philosophy draws on Sanathana Dharma, though the centre describes its approach as universal and inclusive, beyond religion, culture or identity. Her co-leader, Director Jeyanthan Venkadesakurukkal, brings more than 15 years in international tourism and hospitality to the running of the place. Every stay begins with a consultation, and the programme follows from it: treatments such as Abhyanga, Shirodhara and herbal steam, energy healing sessions, yoga, meditation and Ayurveda cooking. Meals are full-board, vegan or vegetarian, with herbal teas prepared to the guest's needs. Stays run from three to ten days. Beyond the villa, Niyanthree also runs a clinic, workshops and online courses, a Kids Wisdom programme and a Women's Healing Circle.
